Gothia Cup was started in 1975. It is world’s biggest youth tournament where more than 300 teams of more than 75 nations worldwide used to take part every year. The following players have one thing in common they have won the Gothia Cup in their youth time as well as they took part in the World Cup 2006: Xabi Alonso (Spain), Adebayor (Togo), Andrea Pirlo (Italy), Ze Roberto (Brazil), José Montiel (Paraguay), Kim Källström (Sweden) and Teddy Lucic (Sweden).
After finishing the Helsinki Cup on 13th July 2013, Under 15’s moved back to India & the Under 18’s moved forward for the Gothia Cup to Sweden:
